Goal streak continues
Tietz scored a goal while taking three shots (two on goal) and crossing once inaccurately during Saturday's 4-3 win over Mainz.
Analysis: Tietz found the back of the net in the 18th minute while finishing with the second most shots on the team. The forward is in red hot form scoring four goals while combining for 13 shots over his last three starts.
Nets in loss
Tietz scored one goal to go with six shots (two on goal) in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Analysis: Tietz scored during Saturday's loss, as well as taking six shots during the defeat. Tietz's volume was brilliant, even if he only scored the single goal. He's the focal point of the attack and should hold onto that role throughout the season. If he can keep this sort of volume going he should have plenty of upside.
Nets brace Sunday
Tietz scored two goals while taking four shots (two on goal) and creating two chances during Sunday's 5-0 win over Hamburg.
Analysis: Tietz scored in the 48th and 83rd minutes while tying for the team-high with his four shots Sunday. The goals were the first this season for Tietz as he's played the entirety of both of Mainz's games thus far following a five goal season across 19 appearances last campaign.
Goal and assist
Tietz scored one goal and assisted once from two shots and two chances created in Saturday's 2-0 victory over FC Heidenheim. He was injured and subbed out in the 84th minute.
Analysis: Tietz had a very productive day against Heidernheim, as the forward would record a goal in the seventh minute to open the scoring. However, that was not all, as he would also assist on Nadiem Amiri's 43rd-minute goal, helping on both goals Saturday. Tietz ends the season with eight goal contributions, earning five goals on 46 shots and three assists on 18 chances created in 19 appearances (19 starts).
Scores opener in victory
Tietz scored one goal to go with four shots (one on goal) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-1 victory against FC St. Pauli.
Analysis: Tietz got Mainz on the board early in the sixth minute, pouncing on Eric Smith's loose pass before ripping a low, driven finish into the right corner from 15 meters to put the hosts in a hole they never climbed out of, and he also played a key role in Phillipp Mwene's 40th minute strike by muscling down Daniel Batz's long ball and kicking it out wide to Silvan Widmer on the right flank. He's now up to four Bundesliga goals on the season, and his physical hold-up play set the tone for Mainz's efficient counter-attacking game plan. That presence up top helped keep St. Pauli in check, limiting them to just three shots on target over the full 90 minutes.
