Poor in front of goal
Tietz had five shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 3-2 loss against Werder Bremen.
Analysis: Tietz put up five shots as part of Mainz's push to find an equalizer, but only one attempt as on target. The forward will need to be more accurate to take advantage against Elversberg but the matchup is good, as the team has conceded 15 goals already through seven Bundesliga matches.
Scores fifth goal of season
Tietz scored one goal to go with three shots (two on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 1-0 win against Schalke.
Analysis: Tietz scored once from three shots, putting two on target, while creating one chance across 89 minutes in Saturday's 1-0 win at Schalke. He opened the scoring in the 24th minute by converting Anthony Caci's cross before forcing Loris Karius into another excellent save from around 10 yards just 10 minutes later, although he wasted another opportunity to double the lead late in the match. Tietz has now scored five goals through six Bundesliga appearances this season, continuing his impressive start to the campaign while establishing himself as Mainz's primary scoring threat.
