Kevin Carlos
DNP in Juventus fixtures
Carlos (quad) wasn't fielded in Sunday's 1-1 draw versus Juventus.
Analysis: Carlos didn't miss time because of a muscular problem, but Paul Mendy and M'Bala Nzola were deployed over him in this one. He has made three cameos so far, tallying just one cross (zero accurate) and four clerances, with no attempts.
Named to bench
Carlos (quadriceps) is on the bench for Sunday's match against Juventus.
Analysis: Carlos was training this week, and that has led to his return, with the forward an option from the bench. He has yet to start a match this season and has only played 75 minutes off the bench in his three appearances, likely to continue in a rotational role.
Option for Juventus match
Carlos (quad) "trained fully late in the week and is poised to be available for Sunday," coach Fabio Pisacane relayed.
Analysis: Carlos sustained a muscular injury during a friendly but has been able to shake it off in a hurry and will not sit out any tilt. He'll split duties with Paul Mendy and M'Bala Nzola up front going forward. He has come off the bench three times so far, recording four clearances and one cross (zero accurate), without taking a shot yet.
Suffers thigh problem
Carlos sustained a low-grade left quad strain in training, Cagliari announced.
Analysis: Carlos got hurt about a week ago and will likely skip at least a pair of contests because of the muscular problem. Paul Mendy and M'Bala Nzola will handle the no.9 role against Juventus and Monza.
Makes cameo in Atalanta game
Carlos (personal) registered one clearance and two passes in 11 minutes in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Atalanta.
Analysis: Carlos returned from a one-match absence but was inserted late while his team was bunkering up to protect its lead. He'll look to challenge Paul Mendy, who scored in this one, going forward. The two could also star together in an aggressive look. He notched just one inaccurate cross in his two appearances off the bench so far.
Available off bench
Carlos (personal) is available on the bench to face Atalanta on Saturday.
Analysis: As expected, Carlos makes the bench after returning to training earlier this week. He's made just one appearance this season, logging 33 minutes off the bench in a loss to Inter Milan on Aug. 30, so his fantasy appeal won't be very high even if he's back in the squad.
Back with the squad
Carlos has resumed training after the passing of his mother, Cagliari announced.
Analysis: Carlos will be an option against Atalanta and likely split minutes with Paul Mendy, while M'Bala Nzola is working on his fitness at the position. He has recorded just one clearance and one inaccurate cross in his lone 33-minute appearance thus far.
Ruled out for Lecce game
Carlos "won't be an option for Sunday because he spent a few days in Spain to tend to a personal matter," coach Fabio Pisacane relayed.
Analysis: Carlos should report back soon and should be good to go for the Atalanta clash Saturday. Paul Mendy will be the lone pure forward available, as M'Bala Nzola isn't ready yet. Youngster Alessandro Sugamele will provide depth.
Loaned to Cagliari
Omoruyi joined Cagliari on loan with an option to buy from Nice, the club announced.
Analysis: Omoruyi came through Huesca's academy before a loan spell with Real Betis' reserve side led him to Yverdon, where he finished as Switzerland's top scorer with 14 goals in 2023-24. He won a domestic double at Basel before moving to Nice, where he failed to score in 23 Ligue 1 appearances last season but tallied two goals in eight Europa League matches, including one against Fenerbahce. Carlos is known for his aerial ability and skill attacking space, and is expected to add a complete attacking option to Cagliari's frontline.
