Yassin Belkhdim
ANG
Regular starter in midfield
Belkhdim has started all five of Angers' opening Ligue 1 matches, although his role might evolve since Haris Belkebla returned from injury and will compete for minutes.
Analysis: Belkhdim has played 445 of a possible 450 minutes and leads the team with 13 tackles, alongside eight interceptions and five clearances. He has yet to register a goal or assist after contributing two of each in 27 league appearances last season.
In squad for preseason opener
Belkhdim is in the squad for Angers' preseason friendly against Les Herbiers, the club announced.
Analysis: Belkhdim missed the end of last season after undergoing forearm surgery, a setback that ended a campaign in which he closed out with two goals and two assists across 27 Ligue 1 appearances as a consistent starter on the right flank. His inclusion in the squad for this friendly points to a positive recovery ahead of the new season. He is expected to compete for his starting role after the injury opened the door for Louis Mouton to see increased playing time. Belkhdim is expected to continue building toward full match fitness as preseason progresses.
