Earns a few minutes
Gusto recorded one tackle (zero won) in Thursday's 2-0 win versus Morocco.
Analysis: Gusto came off the bench for France as he relieved Jules Kounde of his spot at right-back, only playing three minutes. He would notch a tackle and five passes completed in his time on the field, not getting much time to show his talents. He has yet to start this World Cup and will be unlikely to, with 28 minutes played from the bench in four appearances this tournament.
Minor bruise, fine for Iraq
Gusto downplayed concerns over his ankle after a collision with Lucas Digne in training Wednesday, describing the issue as a small bruise that should be fine following treatment, according to Loic Tanzi of L'Equipe. "Everything is fine, I took a little stud from Lucas who maybe wasn't very happy. I will just have treatment today, it's a small bruise, it should be fine."
Analysis: Gusto did not finish Wednesday's training session but the reassuring update suggests there is no serious concern ahead of France's second group fixture against Iraq on June 22. The Chelsea right-back remains an option behind Jules Kounde in the battle for the starting spot, and his quick recovery removes any lingering doubt heading into the tournament's pivotal stages.
