Continues individual training
Simons (knee) is continuing to train individually with a ball and in boots, according to Gary Ward.
Analysis: Simons continues to work on his return to play after an ACL tear last season, as the midfielder was once again back out for some training. He is working individually on grass with a ball, similar to what he was doing a few weeks ago when it was initially reported he was training again. Spurs fans will be watching his return closely as he works towards joining group training, still not scheduled to return for a few more months.
Makes progress in recovery
Simons (knee) has shared videos and images from his recovery work in the United States, with Gary Ward reporting Thursday that the winger is back in boots and moving well as he continues his ACL rehab.
Analysis: This is an encouraging checkpoint in Simons' recovery from right knee surgery, but his return to match action is still expected to come in January in a best-case scenario. Thus, he remains sidelined while he continues to progress through rehab, hoping to avoid any setbacks and give his team a strong attacking option towards the final months of the 2026/27 season. Until then, Omar Marmoush, Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel will see increased involvement in central or left-sided positions.
