Continues rehab at training ground

Simons is continuing his ACL rehabilitation program at Tottenham's Enfield training ground, 10 weeks removed from surgery, according to the club.

Analysis: Simons underwent surgery on May 5 for the torn ACL suffered in his right knee during the win at Wolves in April, an injury that ended his first season with the club and cost him the 2026 World Cup with the Netherlands. He finished the 2025/26 campaign with five goals and six assists across 39 appearances in all competitions. His continued progress through rehab is a positive sign as he works toward a return, though he remains likely to miss a chunk of the new season as his recovery continues.

Undergoes successful surgery

Simons (knee) has started a lengthy recovery after receiving surgery to repair the ruptured ACL in his right knee, Tottenham announced Tuesday.

Analysis: Simons is out for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign and the subsequent World Cup, and is likely to miss a few months of the next season as well. He finished his first year as a Spurs player with five goals and six assists from 62 shots and 51 chances created over 39 appearances (26 starts) across league, FA Cup and European competitions. Lucas Bergvall and Mathys Tel are expected to gain playing time in his absence. Additionally, Cody Gakpo and Tijjani Reijnders will carry increased offensive responsibilities for the Dutch national team.
