Silva has started both of Bournemouth's Premier League matches this season, and his partnership with Hill is giving manager Marco Rose's side a solid foundation at the heart of the defense.
Makes Premier League debut
Silva registered 11 clearances in Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Manchester City. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 85th minute.
Analysis: Silva was in the starting XI after his major move from Benfica to Bournemouth this season, playing the full 90 in their season opener. He and his defense would do well to hold a clean sheet until the 84th minute, just to be beaten twice in the end for an eventual loss. However, it was still an encouraging performance for the defender in a team that is facing their first loss in a long time, as he still earned 11 clearances against the might Man City.
Signs with Bournemouth
Silva signed with Bournemouth from Benfica, according to his new club. "Antonio is a player we have admired for a long time and we're delighted to welcome him to AFC Bournemouth," President of football operations Tiago Pinto said.
Analysis: Silva made 235 senior appearances for Benfica, collecting six major honours and earning the Primeira Liga Defender of the Year award for 2022/23, having come through the club's academy. The 22 year old center back has earned 20 caps for Portugal, featuring at the 2022 World Cup as a 19 year old along with the European Championship and Nations League, and now joins manager Marco Rose's squad as Bournemouth strengthens its defense ahead of the new 2026/27 Premier League season.
