Released from Chile squad
Nunez has been released from Chile's squad due to personal reasons, according to the Chilean National Team.
Analysis: Nunez has seen a reduced role at Ipswich recently, remaining on the bench in each of the club's last three Premier League matches after losing his starting spot following Exequiel Palacios's signing. With Palacios and Sasa Lukic now handling the middle of the park, this early return from international duty gives him extra time to work with his club as he looks to force his way back into contention.
Losing starting role
Nunez has stayed on the bench in each of Ipswich's last three EPL matches.
Analysis: The central midfielder started the first two EPL matches of the season and bagged a brace in the EFL Cup opener against Leicester City, but he's lost his starting role since the signing of Exequiel Palacios. With Palacios and Sasa Lukic handling the middle of the park, Nunez seems destined for a backup role for the foreseeable future.
Creates a chance at Old Trafford
Nunez had one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 5-2 defeat versus Manchester United.
Analysis: Nunez had a busy defensive performance against Manchester United and also created a chance. He made two clearances and two blocks, while also attempting a cross. The defensive midfielder came off after they went 3-1 down for a more attacking option after some errors in defence led to the second and third goals.
One corner in win
Nunez had one shot (zero on goal) and one corner in Saturday's 2-1 victory versus Sunderland.
Analysis: Nunez took a corner and shot to open the season with all three points against Sunderland. He wasn't overly involved, but still it was a nice opening win. It's going to be difficult for Ipswich back in the top flight, especially against some of the top teams, so taking all three points in matches such as this will be crucial. Nunez made 36 appearances last season and should be a major factor in the top flight.
