Leaves Egypt camp as precaution
Abdelmonem left Egypt's national team camp by mutual agreement with the staff to preserve his fitness and physical condition, a decision made partly due to the artificial turf conditions for the AFCON qualifier and a shared desire to take no risk with his health, according to his club.
Analysis: Abdelmonem had only recently returned to fitness after a late World Cup return left him behind his teammates in preseason, and now shifts his focus back to working with Nice ahead of the club's upcoming fixtures. No injury has been reported, and the move appears purely precautionary as the club continues managing his recovery and physical condition.
Plays two minutes in opener
Abdelmonem (ankle) played two minutes in the season opener against Lorient and is back fit.
Analysis: Abdelmonem had been kept out of the lineup entirely as coach Olivier Pantaloni prioritized patience with his buildup after a late return from international duty left him behind his teammates in fitness. His brief appearance now confirms he has caught up enough to be considered again, and his workload should continue to build as Nice moves into the first stretch of the season.
