Six crosses against Colombia

Fayzullaev scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal), six crosses (zero accurate) and two corners in Wednesday's 3-1 loss versus Colombia.

Analysis: Fayzullaev was unquestionably Uzbekistan's standout performer in Wednesday's 3-1 defeat to Colombia, heading home a loose ball after Camilo Vargas failed to deal with it in the second half to bring his side level at 1-1. He also delivered six crosses and took two corners across 77 minutes before being replaced by Azizbek Amonov. The attacking midfielder found significantly more space after halftime as manager Fabio Cannavaro adjusted his side's shape, and his goal, Uzbekistan's first-ever at a World Cup gave his team belief they could cause an upset before Colombia's quality ultimately prevailed. His creativity, set-piece involvement and ability to arrive late into the box from wide positions make him Uzbekistan's most dangerous attacking outlet, and his impact from the left flank will be central to any hopes they carry into their remaining group fixtures.

Dynamic midfield option

Fayzullaev has been named in Uzbekistan's World Cup squad and is expected to start in midfield, arriving at the tournament after a productive season with Basaksehir in Turkey.

Analysis: Fayzullaev contributed three goals and three assists this season, delivering a well-rounded attacking output that underlines his importance as a creative and goal-scoring presence in the Uzbek midfield. His ability to combine quickly, carry the ball forward and deliver in the final third makes him one of the more technically accomplished midfield options available to the coaching staff, and his Turkish league experience against competitive opposition gives him the physical and tactical preparation needed to perform at the World Cup. For Uzbekistan, Fayzullaev alongside Oston Urunov gives the national team a dynamic and energetic midfield partnership capable of creating and scoring goals against any opposition, and his combination of directness, technical quality and end product makes him one of the more exciting players to watch in the Uzbek squad this summer.
