Ineffective Tuesday
Bonny registered one tackle (one won) and one clearance in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Norway.
Analysis: Bonny came off the bench and provided a tackle and clearance but couldn't get involved in the attack at all. He was brought on try and chase the game and overturn the late deficit but he just couldn't quite pull it off. Bonny and co. return home with a very disappointing round-of-32 finish against a beatable Norway side.
Another quiet game
Bonny recorded one tackle (one won), two clearances and one interception in Thursday's 2-0 victory over Curacao.
Analysis: Bonny was not able to do much for the Ivory Coast despite their win and his starting position, as he would not record a single shot as a forward. After starting the last match and appearing in all three games this tournament, he still only has one shot, which he failed to score. It does raise some questions on if Elye Wahi will return to the starting XI as the Ivory Coast prepare for the knockouts.
Subdued outing against Germany
Bonny recorded one shot (one on goal), one tackle (zero won) and one cross (one accurate) in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Germany.
Analysis: Bonny made his first start in the World Cup after logging 34 minutes in the opener and was fairly energetic and involved in the final third, displaying decent chemistry with his teammates, but his output was paltry overall. He benefited from Elye Wahi's uncertain status for this one, as the teammate was cleared late after some VISA issues but ultimately went unused. Bonny had put up just one clearance and drawn two fouls in his cameo in the first match.
Unsuccessful in draw
Bonny recorded one shot (zero on goal) and two crosses (one accurate) in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Verona.
Analysis: Bonny came close but could not find the net during a rare opportunity to partner Lautaro Martinez up front. After assisting as a substitute against Lazio in his previous league outing, the Ivorian is still looking for his first goal in any competition since Feb. 4. Unfortunately for him, there's a strong chance he'll move back to a depth role with all of Martinez, Marcus Thuram and Francesco Pio Esposito usually preferred in attacking spots.
Provides one assist off bench
Bonny assisted once to go with zero corners and one chance created in Saturday's 3-0 win over Lazio.
Analysis: Bonny came off the bench at halftime to replace Marcus Thuram in Saturday's 3-0 win against Lazio and made an immediate impact in the second half, delivering the assist for Henrikh Mkhitaryan's third goal with a well-timed pass inside the box after combining with the substitutes who came on alongside him to maintain his side's attacking tempo against a ten-man Lazio. Bonny has scored five Serie A goals and registered four assists across 31 appearances this season, operating as a reliable and technically sharp option off the bench in manager Cristian Chivu's squad rotation.
