Justin Diehl

Diehl (quadriceps) has yet to resume team training and remains unavailable for the time being as he continues his recovery from a muscular injury, coach Sebastian Hoeness confirmed.

Analysis: Diehl continues to work his way back from the thigh injury suffered during a training session in September, with his absence now extending beyond the international break. The young forward has endured a frustrating stretch of recurring fitness issues, having failed to make a Bundesliga appearance last season while primarily featuring for Stuttgart's U21 side in the 3. Liga. With no indication that he's close to rejoining the group, Diehl remains out of contention for Saturday's clash against Paderborn, and his return timeline is still uncertain.

Out until late September

Diehl sustained a muscle injury in the front of his thigh during team training and will be unable to participate in training or match play at least until the international break at the end of September 2026, the club announced.

Analysis: Diehl's latest setback continues a frustrating pattern for the young forward, who didn't feature in the Bundesliga last season and instead played primarily for Stuttgart's U21 side in the 3. Liga while working through a string of injury issues. This new thigh muscle injury will keep him out until at least the end of September, further delaying any path back into first-team contention.
