Gaspar
Mostly struggles in Roma contest
Gaspar had seven clearances, five tackles (zero won) and one interception and took one shot (one on target) in Monday's 4-0 defeat versus Roma.
Analysis: Gaspar had trouble containing Donyell Malen, which goes for most Serie A defenders, but at least managed to rack up stats in the back. He has registered at least five tackles and seven clearances in the first two rounds, accruing nine (three won) and 18, respectively, with one clean sheet.
Logs double-digit clearances against Venezia
Gaspar had 11 clearances, one interception and one block and won three of four tackles in Sunday's 2-0 win over Venezia.
Analysis: Gaspar was booked three minutes into the game but managed the situation well, avoiding risky fouls, containing the opponents soundly and racking up stats. A major knee injury limited him to 23 games last season, during which he notched 23 tackles, 17 interceptions and 141 clearances, with seven clean sheets.
Unused sub in Sassuolo match
Gaspar (knee) didn't play in Sunday's 3-2 victory over Sassuolo.
Analysis: Gaspar completed his rehab from a major knee injury, but the coach stuck with players in better form in a key game, primarily Jamil Siebert. He's a long shot to play much in the season final against Genoa on Sunday as well, but he'll be fully healthy heading into the summer.
Back available Sunday
Gaspar (knee) has been named in the squad for Sunday's clash against Sassuolo, according to the club.
Analysis: Gaspar's inclusion in the matchday squad is a significant milestone after being sidelined since late February with the knee injury. The defender's rehabilitation has progressed well, and while his involvement may be limited given the length of his absence and the performances of his replacements, his return to the squad is a welcome development for Lecce heading into the final two matches of the season.
Recovers from significant injury
Gaspar (knee) has successfully ramped up in training, Lecce announced.
Analysis: Gaspar has been out since late February because of a severe knee injury, but the rehab has gone well, and he could be part of the squad for one of the last two games. It's not sure he'll be utilized, given his long absence and the fact that his replacements have been fine. He has helped secure one clean sheet in his last seven displays, registering nine tackles (three won), seven interceptions and 48 clearances.
