Mbamba joined Lorient on a season long loan from Bayer Leverkusen, the club announced.
Analysis: Mbamba signed his first professional contract with Club Brugge at just 16 and went on to win two Belgian titles with the club before moving to Leverkusen, where he won the Bundesliga under coach Xabi Alonso. He later spent time on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf before a season and a half at FCV Dender in Belgium's top flight, making 46 appearances across all competitions. The 21-year-old midfielder is regarded as a promising and athletic profile. Mbamba is expected to add depth to Lorient's midfield during his loan spell.
Returning from loan
Mbamba has returned to Leverkusen following his season-and-a-half loan spell at FCV Dender.
Analysis: Mbamba joined Dender on loan on Feb. 2, 2025, but the deal was further extended for the entire 2025/26 campaign before the end of the September transfer window. Mbamba made 37 appearances across all competitions for Dender in 2025/26, but another loan move might be on the cards for the promising 21-year-old midfielder just so he can keep playing regularly.
