Ends loan at Augsburg
Chaves has returned to TSG Hoffenheim after Augsburg opted not to trigger the option to buy from his loan spell.
Analysis: Chaves joined Augsburg on loan in January to find regular playing time after falling down the pecking order at Hoffenheim behind Robin Hranac and Albian Hajdari. He started nine games for the club and chipped in two goals, but the move did not lead to Augsburg exercising the buy clause included in the loan deal. Bruised knee ends season
Chaves remains sidelined with a bruised knee and will miss Saturday's season finale against Union Berlin, according to coach Manuel Baum. "Chaves still has a bruised knee."
Analysis: Chaves ends the season with two goals, 19 tackles and 55 clearances across 11 Bundesliga appearances for Augsburg, having been a solid contributor when available before the knee issue struck. Chrislain Matsima is expected to continue in the back line in his absence for the final fixture of the campaign.
