Analysis: Nwaneri entered in the 27th minute for the medically withdrawn Konstantinos Karetsas, who was stretchered off after suffering circulatory problems during a BVB attack, and quickly made his presence felt despite the difficult circumstances surrounding his introduction. He fired six shots across his 55 minutes on the pitch, including a 44th-minute effort that was blocked and another in the 51st minute that Pape Gueye desperately deflected onto the right post with a last-ditch tackle. Nwaneri should be in line for an expanded role in the Black and Yellow attack with fellow new signings Karetsas and Giannis Konstantelias (knee) currently sidelined.

Loaned to Dortmund

Nwaneri joined Dortmund on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal on Tuesday.

Analysis: Nwaneri wasn't expected to see consistent playing time at Arsenal this season, so the young playmaker will head to the Bundesliga in search of regular first-team action. This will be the second consecutive loan for Nwaneri, as he spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan at Marseille.
