Starts in friendly
Vertrouwd (hamstring) came off the bench in Saturday's friendly against Cagliari, according to Pasion por el Rayo.
Analysis: Vertrouwd started in this friendly match because Luiz Felipe (hamstring), another center-back option, didn't make the squad for this Trofeo de Vallecas, as well as Marash Kumbulla, who's on international duty with Albania. Vertrouwd isn't expected to be a regular going forward, and he should be a depth option at center-back as the league campaign continues in October after the break.
Recovered from injury
Vertrouwd (hamstring) has taken part in complete training sessions after overcoming his muscle discomfort, per Nacho Herrero of PasionporelRayo.com.
Analysis: Vertrouwd made a quick recovery over the past few weeks and could be available for selection immediately after the international break. His return adds a left-back option for a Rayo side that may use him as a backup player behind Adria Pedrosa in upcoming fixtures. The Dutchman has registered just three clearances and two tackles over 122 minutes of league play this season.
