Undergoes surgery for collarbone fracture
Casado underwent surgery at Hospital HM Modelo in A Coruna, performed by traumatologist Rafael Arriaza, for a fracture in his right collarbone, with his recovery progress set to determine his return to competition, according to the club.
Analysis: Casado had been feared to have suffered the injury after Sunday's match, with coach Antonio Hidalgo saying at the time it that is looked bad pending further testing, and this surgery now confirms the diagnosis. Luismi Cruz figures to reenter the starting lineup in his absence, with Diego Villares also likely to see more playing time as Casado begins what could be a recovery of around three months.
Broken collarbone feared
Casado is feared to have suffered a broken collarbone and is set for further testing, according to manager Antonio Hidalgo, per Coruna Deportiva. "The Casado thing looks bad. They have to run tests on him... but it looks bad."
Analysis: Casado is feared to be set for possible months on the sidelines, as the midfielder is feared to have suffered a broken collarbone. This would likely take around three months to recover from, although it is not yet confirmed, as he is set for further testing. He looks to be set for a bigger role with the team while on loan, so this is a major blow for both parties, with Luismi Cruz likely to re-enter the starting XI whoel Diego Villares earns more time as well.
Exits after 34 minutes
Casado was forced off the field in the 34th minute of Sunday's match against Betis due to an apparent injury.
Analysis: Casado would almost make it to halftime Sunday but would instead leave the field around 10 minutes earlier, appearing to have suffered an injury. This would be a big blow for the midfielder after only earning his second start of the season, having only been loaned to the club to open up September. He was replaced by Diego Villares, with Adria Altimira as another option to gain more time if Casado remains out.
Makes starting debut for Deportivo
Marc Casado had one clearanceand one interception in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Getafe.
Analysis: Casado made his first start since joining Deportivo on loan from Barcelona and immediately took charge of the midfield at Getafe. The defensive midfielder was his side's main outlet in possession with 43 accurate passes, more than any of his team mates, and he drew three fouls from opponents who struggled to get the ball off him. There was less to show for his defensive work with one interception and one clearance, and his afternoon ended after 62 minutes.
Loaned to Deportivo
Casado has made a move to Deportivo A Coruna on loan from Barcelona through June 2027, his parent team announced Tuesday.
Analysis: Casado found a new destination in the final hours of the transfer window after failing to be considered by the league champions for the current campaign. He has shown defensive quality at a young age, operating as a mobile central midfielder when given meaningful playing time. His most recent numbers included one assist, along with 966 passes, 27 tackles (15 won) and 24 fouls drawn over 30 matches played (12 starts) across La Liga and UCL action. He'll now offer a strong alternative to Lorenzo Amatucci and Mario Soriano Carreno for the duration of his loan period.
