Djaoui Cissé
Two shots in loss
Cisse recorded two shots (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Sunday's 4-3 loss to Paris FC. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 32nd minute.
Analysis: Cisse took a pair of shots Sunday and was shown a yellow card and still put together a nice performance. It was always going to be a tough match, and Cisse did well to produce throughout the clash. He couldn't get on the scoresheet, especially due to how wasteful he was in the final third though. Cisse has some more tough clashes coming up with European action on deck.
Makes season debut off bench
Cisse played 23 minutes off the bench in Sunday's 4-1 Ligue 1 victory over Auxerre, recording two shots (one on target), four corners, one chance created and one interception in his first appearance of the season.
Analysis: Cisse finally made his Ligue 1 season debut after being left out of Rennes' squad for every previous league match under coach Franck Haise. The midfielder made 24 league appearances last season but has fallen down the pecking order this campaign, with his involvement against Auxerre representing an encouraging development. Despite his productive cameo, Cisse remains fifth in the central midfield hierarchy and is unlikely to challenge for a starting role immediately. However, he could gradually earn more playing time in the coming weeks if he continues to make an impact off the bench.
Still awaiting season debut
Cisse has yet to appear for Rennes in Ligue 1 as he seems out of the plans of coach Franck Haise this season.
Analysis: Cisse has played no league minutes after making 24 appearances last season. He was left out of the squad in every league games so far, but did travel for the Sept. 16 Europa League match at Sturm Graz, rising doubts about his role with the Bretons this campaign.
