Returns in loss Saturday

Messali (hamstring) came off the bench in Saturday's 2-0 loss to Lyon.

Analysis: Messali entered the game in the 71st minute shortly after Noah Nartey's goal. Messali has been limited to just 10 starts and 25 appearances over the last two seasons, and while he should add depth to the defensive line, he's not expected to play a big role in Toulouse's defensive line in the near future unless injuries occur.

Suffers new setback

Messali (hamstring) will not travel with Toulouse for Friday's friendly against Real Sociedad in Tarbes after landing in the treatment room this week, according to Les Violets.

Analysis: Messali had only recently confirmed he was fully recovered from the ankle and hamstring issues that sidelined him for three months down the stretch last season, so this new absence is a discouraging development so soon after that clean bill of health. His status will need to be reassessed in the coming days as Toulouse continues preseason preparations under new coach Jens Berthel Askou.
