Zambrano (hamstring) is on the bench for Tuesday's EFL Cup match against Sunderland.
Analysis: Zambrano is set to make his season debut with the Tigers if he comes off the bench, but even if he doesn't play, this is already a positive development for the young Ecuadorian midfielder. Zambrano should be a depth option in midfield going forward, so he's not expected to carry significant fantasy upside for the time being.
Back in individual training
Zambrano (hamstring) is out for Saturday's match against Manchester United and recently started individual training, manager Sergej Jakirovic told Hull Live. "Zambrano is still out, and he's now started with individual sessions."
Analysis: The good news is that Zambrano is back training on the grass, but he's yet to join the rest of the group, so he's not expected to be back in the squad in the near future. The Ecuadorian midfielder should rotate in and out of the lineup once he's healthy, but based on this latest development, it seems he's set to miss a couple more matches at a minimum before being considered to return to the side.
Out for month and start of season
Zambrano (quadriceps) is out for the next month and is set to miss the start of the season, according to Mike White of Humberside Sport.
Analysis: Zambrano has been dealing with a quadriceps injury and is now heading for the sidelines for further time, as he is set to miss a month and the start of the season. This will leave the club with a bit less depth as they enter the season, not ideal for a newly promoted team already dealing with injuries all around the club. He will eye a return in September, hoping not to face a further absence.
Sidelined with hamstring strain
Zambrano has been absent from recent friendly games because of a minor hamstring issue that is expected to leave him out for a couple more weeks, Baz Cooper of the Hull Daily Mail reports.
Analysis: Zambrano is unlikely to play a huge role at the beginning of the Premier League season, having just rejoined Hull City from Maribor. The central man had previously been with his current club in an English Championship campaign in 2024, but the 2026/27 course will represent his first experience at the top division. Until Zambrano is fully recovered from the injury, Regan Slater, Matt Crooks and Hidemasa Morita (calf) will be the likeliest contenders for starting roles in defensive midfield.
Joins Hull City
Zambrano has completed a transfer to Hull City from Maribor, according to his new club.
Analysis: Zambrano is making a big move in his career, as the midfielder leaves Slovenia to join Premier League side Hull City. The young prospect signs a four-year deal with an option for another season. He has previously served with the Tigers on loan in the 2024/25 season, although it was only for eight appearances. In his career, he has five goals and three assists in 83 appearances, steadily improving his numbers. He will now look to compete for time in the newly promoted team, likely to take a bit of time to get fully integrated into the pace of the league.
