Luca Marianucci
Sustains knee injury
Marianucci has been diagnosed with a high-grade MCL sprain in his left knee, Napoli announced.
Analysis: Marianucci will undergo more tests to assess whether he needs surgery to make a full recovery. Either way, he's set to miss at least a couple of months, Corriere dello Sport relays. He was in the running to replace Alessandro Buongiorno (knee) in the early going alongside Rafa Marin and Sam Beukema.
Back at Napoli after Torino stay
Marianucci wasn't retained by Torino past the June 30 deadline.
Analysis: Marianucci appeared 10 times (six starts) in the second half of last season, notching 33 clearances, nine interceptions and 13 tackles and contributing to one clean sheet, but he wasn't acquired by Torino afterward. Napoli could keep one between him and Rafa Marin to bolster their defense depth gratis.
Unavailable for Juventus clash
Marianucci "will miss Sunday's game due to a knee injury," coach Roberto D'Aversa stated.
Analysis: Marianucci bowed out at halftime last week and hasn't been able to recover for the season finale. Ardian Ismajli (thigh) has recovered and could get the nod right away. Marianucci had a fine loan spell from Napoli but was rarely a fixture of the formation, contributing to one clean sheet in 10 appearances (six starts) and logging 13 tackles, nine interceptions and 33 clearances.
