Sent on loan to Sint-Truidense
Takai has joined Sint-Truidense VV on loan for the rest of the 2026/27 season, according to the club.
Analysis: Takai made eight Bundesliga appearances during a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach last season, making his debut against Augsburg in January, after joining his parent club from Kawasaki Frontale in the summer of 2025. The Japan international defender, an Asian U23 Cup winner and 2024 Olympian with four senior caps, now gets a fresh opportunity for regular playing time in Belgium's top flight.
Heads back to England
Takai will return to parent club Tottenham following the conclusion of his loan spell at Gladbach.
Analysis: Takai made eight Bundesliga appearances across 339 minutes for Gladbach, contributing 11 tackles and 20 clearances in a rotational role throughout the campaign.
