Dishes out assist in Croatia tilt

Nuamah assisted once to go with one cross (one accurate), two tackles (zero won) and two chances created in 19 minutes in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Croatia.

Analysis: Nuamah had a strong shift off the bench, outproducing several starters and finding Derrick Luckassen with a precise free kick from distance to set up the temporary equalizer. He hadn't played in the second game after being quiet despite starting in the opener, drawing just one foul in 58 minutes. He came in for Jordan Ayew in this one.

Quiet in World Cup opener

Nuamah won two duels in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Panama.

Analysis: Nuamah started on the right side of Ghana's attack in Wednesday's World Cup opener, but failed to make any impact on the match. He didn't produce anything on the attack and only attempted 10 passes throughout his time on the pitch. He was subbed off in the 58th minute for Abdul Fatawu who was able to be much more effective despite it being his first match in eight months due to a knee injury. Nuamah is at risk of losing his place in the starting XI for Ghana's next match versus England on Tuesday as the team will need to be efficient and decisive on the attack to get anything out of that match.

Option to face Rennes

Nuamah (knee) is back available for Sunday's clash against Rennes, according to coach Paulo Fonseca, per Le Progres OL. "We're getting Malick and Ernest back, who are in the squad for Rennes, and who can help us if we need them. Our two flanks have more options now, that's good."

Analysis: Nuamah has been working his way back from the ACL injury he suffered almost a year ago, and his inclusion in the squad is a remarkable milestone in what has been an incredibly long road back for the Ghanaian forward. Coach Fonseca's comments suggest he will be eased in from the bench rather than being thrown straight into the starting lineup, but having Nuamah available again gives Lyon more attacking options on the flanks for the final push of their Champions League qualification campaign.

Trains in full Tuesday

Nuamah (knee) has returned to full team training Tuesday and is targeting a comeback for Sunday's clash against Rennes, the club posted.

Analysis: Nuamah has been working his way back from the ACL injury he suffered almost a year ago, and his progression to full collective sessions is a significant milestone in what has been an incredibly long road back. The Ghanaian forward had been building his confidence gradually since making his first squad appearances, and completing a full training session puts him in good position to be back for Sunday's fixture. Lyon will manage his return carefully given the severity of the original injury, but getting Nuamah back in the fold for the final stretch of the season is an exciting development for the Gones.
