Analysis: Fonville was active defensively in a 2-0 defeat to Cote d'Ivoire, winning his tackles and contributing to a defensive effort that tried to limit the damage against a side that had already secured their place in the knockout rounds. Despite his individual effort throughout the campaign, Curacao's quality gap against stronger opposition ultimately proved too great for the smallest country to ever qualify for the World Cup.
