Earns first senior Argentina cap
Gomez made his official debut for Argentina, coming on in the closing stretch of Argentina's win over Bolivia, according to Pablo Sanchez of Zona Mixta.
Analysis: Gomez came on for Lisandro Martinez with Argentina already leading 3-0, contributing a blocked shot, a clearance and a won duel in limited action during the post Messi era's opening match. He has made three La Liga appearances for Real Betis this season, recording four tackles, two interceptions, 26 clearances and four blocks while benefiting from injuries to Marc Bartra and Diego Llorente, and now adds this milestone debut as he continues building his case for a bigger role at the club.
Filling in amid injuries
Gomez has made three La Liga appearances this season while providing depth in central defense.
Analysis: Gomez remains a backup option at center-back but has benefited from the recurring injury problems of Marc Bartra and Diego Llorente to earn increased playing time. The defender has recorded four tackles, two interceptions, 26 clearances and four blocks across his three league appearances. His opportunities should continue to depend largely on the availability of the more established options ahead of him.
