Unused in last two games
Khusanov started the first three league games but has been dropped to the bench following Matheus Nunes's return to full fitness.
Analysis: Khusanov's role this season has come mainly at right-back as cover for Matheus Nunes, whose return to fitness pushes the defender back into a secondary role. Ruben Dias and Marc Guehi are the first choice centre backs, so cup ties and squad rotation could represent his best route into the side. He was an important figure last season when injuries to Dias and Josko Gvardiol left City short at the back, and he made 15 league starts during that spell, but with the whole group fit his opportunities look likely to be limited.
Solid defensively
Khusanov registered two tackles (zero won), three clearances and one interception in Saturday's 1-0 win versus Coventry City. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 95th minute.
Analysis: Khusanov was involved throughout Saturday's win, piling on defensive volume and helping guarantee the clean sheet during Saturday's win. The defender is a big part of the City back-line, but this isn't the sort of match that really required too much from him. As the Champions League kicks off, Khusanov could be challenged more thoroughly defensively.
