Joins Osnabruck on loan

Opitz will join newly promoted second-division side VfL Osnabruck on loan for the 2026/27 season, the club announced.

Analysis: Opitz will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at VfL Osnabruck after Werder Bremen confirmed the move on Friday. The 21-year-old joins the newly promoted second division side having spent the previous campaign on loan at Karlsruher SC, also in the second tier, where he made eight league appearances. Werder head of professional football Peter Niemeyer confirmed the deal. The move gives Opitz another opportunity for regular second-division minutes having had limited involvement at Bremen, where he has made just three Bundesliga appearances since signing his first professional contract in 2023.
