Injury deemed as minor
Hernandez (leg) is dealing with a minor muscular injury in his left leg and is working on his rehab, with the goal of being available for the Malaga match on Oct. 9, Xavier Boro of La Grada reports.
Analysis: Out of all the potential outcomes, this was one of the best-case scenarios. The attacking midfielder is working on his recovery and is slated to return to training in the coming days. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he could be in the squad to face Malaga on Oct. 9 once the league campaign resumes. Having Hernandez in the squad would be huge for Espanyol, as he has four assists already this season.
Suffers injury with Spain U21
Hernandez suffered an undisclosed muscular injury with Spain U21 on Saturday, Marc Marin of SPORT reports.
Analysis: Hernandez, one of the standout U21 performers in LaLiga in the 2026/27 season, was expected to make his debut with Spain U21 during the break, but an injury forced him to leave camp and return to his club for treatment. Further tests will be needed to determine whether he'll be able to play against Malaga on Friday, Oct. 9, when the league season resumes after the break. Hernandez has four assists in seven league starts this season.
