Ruled out several weeks
Guiu is set to be without RB Leipzig for several weeks after suffering an injury to his left hamstring in training this week, according to the club.
Analysis: Guiu had recently signed with Leipzig from Chelsea, bringing eight goals across 29 competitive appearances and Conference League and Club World Cup titles from his time there, and this early setback now comes as an unfortunate start to his time in the Bundesliga. His recovery timeline will be worth monitoring as he begins the next chapter of his career.
Signs with RB Leipzig
Guiu has signed with RB Leipzig through 2031, joining from Chelsea, and will wear the number 9 shirt, according to the club. Sporting director Marcel Schafer said "Marc fits very well with our RB DNA with his intensity, high pace and incredible work rate."
Analysis: Guiu made 29 competitive appearances for Chelsea, scoring eight goals across two seasons, and won both the Conference League and Club World Cup with the club, after coming through Barcelona's academy, where he made his professional debut at age 17 in 2023 and scored two goals in seven appearances. The 20 year old Spanish forward now begins the next chapter of his career in the Bundesliga.
