Falls to bench
Tutierov recorded one shot (zero on goal) in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Leeds United.
Analysis: Tutierov was getting the start the past few matches in place of the injured Brian Brobbey, but following Brobbey's return, Tutierov was dropped back to the bench. He would still get 25 minutes of play from the bench and record a shot, although it was off target. His role will likely die down now that Brobbey has returned, likely getting a rotational role at best.
Signs contract extension
Tutierov has signed a new contract with Sunderland, according to the club, after scoring in Saturday's 5-1 preseason win over York City. "We're delighted that Timur has committed his future to Sunderland," Director of football Florent Ghisolfi said.
Analysis: Tutierov scored six goals with one assist in seven Premier League 2 appearances for Sunderland's U21 side in the first half of last season, performances that earned him a loan move to Exeter City, where he added three goals and one assist across 17 League One appearances. The 21 year old Ukrainian winger's new deal reflects the club's confidence in his long term potential, and his recent preseason goal adds further momentum as he looks to continue progressing toward regular first team opportunities.
