Returns to England

Sanusi will return to parent club Newcastle following the conclusion of his loan spell at Lorient.

Analysis: Sanusi joined Lorient in September while already carrying an ankle injury sustained days before the move, forcing him to return to Tyneside for treatment and preventing him from training with the club for several months. Sanusi finally made his debut in December with a goal and an assist off the bench in a 7-0 Coupe de France win over AS Gosier, before making one further cup start, but suffered a knee injury that was described as a long-term issue and was not part of a Ligue 1 matchday squad again after March. Former Lorient manager Olivier Pantaloni acknowledged the difficulties Sanusi faced adapting to a new country and playing methods while dealing with persistent injuries, and the winger now returns to Newcastle where his future will be reviewed ahead of the 2026/27 season.
