Out indefinitely with knee injury
Leszczynski (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's Bundesliga clash against Hoffenheim and will remain sidelined for an unspecified period, according to coach Alexander Blessin. "Leszczynski has suffered a knee injury and will be sidelined for the time being."
Analysis: Leszczynski suffered a knee injury during training after establishing himself in Borussia Monchengladbach's starting lineup over the previous two Bundesliga matches. The 19-year-old defender, who joined from Legia Warsaw during the summer, now faces an uncertain spell on the sidelines after earning consecutive starts. No timetable has been established for his return, leaving Fabio Chiarodia as the leading candidate to replace him in central defense against Hoffenheim.
Unlikely to face Hoffenheim
Leszczynski is unlikely to feature in Sunday's Bundesliga clash against Hoffenheim after sustaining a knee injury during training, according to Sky.
Analysis: Leszczynski has suffered an untimely setback after establishing himself in Borussia Monchengladbach's starting lineup over the past two Bundesliga matches. The 19-year-old defender, who joined the club from Legia Warsaw during the summer, had recently earned consecutive starts but now appears unlikely to be available against Hoffenheim. Additional examinations should provide more clarity regarding the severity of his knee injury and whether he could face an extended absence. If Leszczynski is ruled out, Fabio Chiarodia appears the leading candidate to replace him in central defense. Coach Alexander Blessin is expected to provide further information during Friday's press conference, with the youngster's availability for subsequent fixtures remaining uncertain.
Signs for Gladbach until 2030
Leszczynski has joined Gladbach from Legia Warsaw on a contract until 2030, the club announced.
Analysis: Leszczynski made his Ekstraklasa debut on February 13, 2026 at the age of 18 in a 1-1 draw against GKS Katowice, going on to make four first-team appearances before the end of the season having progressed through Legia's academy since the 2019/20 season. Sporting director Rouven Schroder praised his solidity in duels, aerial ability, ambidexterity and excellent ball distribution, describing him as a highly talented defender with a promising profile and significant potential. Leszczynski, who has represented Poland from U16 through to U19 level with four caps at the latter, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to join a club renowned for developing young players as he looks to take the next step in his career.
