Jeff Ekhator
Moves to Juventus
Ekhator has joined Juventus on a permanent deal from Genoa.
Analysis: Ekhator heads to a bigger club after showing promise in the last two seasons in a secondary role at Genoa, notching four goals, one assist, 30 shots (eight on target) and 22 chances created in 54 appearances (15 starts) combined. It'll reportedly be determined later in the summer whether he'll stay put or go out on loan to play regularly.
Ruled out for Lecce contest
Ekhator (foot) didn't make Genoa's squad list to face Lecce on Sunday.
Analysis: Ekhator was questionable due to a contusion and will indeed skip the season finale. He emerged late in the campaign and concluded with three goals, 20 shots (five on target), 10 chances created and nine crosses (zero accurate) in 30 showings (nine starts). Lorenzo Colombo is the lone pure striker available for this one. Mikael Egill Ellertsson will likely move to the no.10 role, making room on the wings.
Questionable for Lecce game
Ekhator "is in doubt for Sunday due to a bruised metatarsal," coach Daniele De Rossi communicated.
Analysis: Ekhator will have to go through a fitness test to be healthy and potentially start anyway. Genoa would be short-handed if he didn't make it, as Vitinha (suspension) and Junior Messias (calf) are out and Caleb Ekuba is iffy. Lorenzo Colombo is the only fully healthy striker. Ruslan Malinovskyi and Mikael Egill Ellertsson could play in more attacking roles if needed.
