Soriba Diaoune

Scores brace in home defeat

Diaoune scored two goals to go with three shots (three on goal), two crosses (zero accurate) and two corners in Wednesday's 4-2 loss against Galatasaray.

Analysis: Diaoune scored twice from three shots, putting all three on target, while adding two inaccurate crosses and two corners across 75 minutes in Wednesday's 4-2 Champions League loss to Galatasaray. He equalized in the eighth minute after collecting Alexsandro's through ball, rounding Ugurcan Cakir and finishing with his left foot, before forcing the goalkeeper into another save with a header midway through the first half. Diaoune completed his first career brace in the 39th minute by converting Hakon Haraldsson's pass at the far post, but Lille subsequently conceded three unanswered goals before he was replaced by Gaetan Perrin. Diaoune is expected to see more playing time as the backup of Olivier Giroud until Ayaze Ueda (foot) returns from injury.
