Facing lengthy absence
Ngankam suffered a serious thigh muscle injury during U21 training, according to Wiesbadener Kurier, per Marcel Storch.
Analysis: Ngankam will be sidelined for an extended period as a result, effectively ending any chance of a summer transfer. He was among the fringe attacking players, alongside Noel Futkeu and Michy Batshuayi, expected to depart Frankfurt this window, and was not included in coach Adi Hutter's 27 man squad for the summer training camp in Grassau. Instead of a move elsewhere, Ngankam now faces a lengthy rehabilitation process. Ngankam is expected to begin his recovery as further details emerge.
Returning from loan spell
Ngankam has returned to Frankfurt after his loan spell at Wolfsberger in the second half of the 2026/27 season.
Analysis: Ngankam joined Wolfsberger in the winter after failing to play much during the first half of the 2025/26 campaign. However, injuries limited him to just one goal across eight appearances and 404 minutes. It wouldn't be surprising if he leaves the club on loan again this summer.
