Could return against Gladbach
Osterhage (muscular) returned to team training this week and is back in contention for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Borussia Monchengladbach, according to coach Julian Schuster.
Analysis: Osterhage has missed Freiburg's last three competitive matches due to the muscular problem that has troubled him since late August, but his return to full team training marks a significant step toward competitive action. The midfielder is now an option to rejoin the matchday squad against Gladbach, though his workload could initially be managed following the layoff. His return would provide manager Julian Schuster with additional depth in defensive midfield after several weeks on the sidelines.
Ruled out against Paderborn
Osterhage (muscular) will remain unavailable for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Paderborn after failing to return to team training, according to coach Julian Schuster.
Analysis: Osterhage continues to recover from the muscular problem that has already kept him out of Freiburg's last two competitive matches against Motherwell and Werder Bremen. The midfielder remains unable to train with the group, confirming he'll miss a third consecutive match Saturday. There is still no firm timetable for his return, with resuming team training likely to be the next major step toward becoming available again.
