Eligible again
Schallenberg is available for selection after clearing his two-game suspension.
Analysis: Schallenberg's return gives the newly promoted side an option to use in either midfield or center-back spots, posing a threat mainly to Satoshi Tanaka and Soufiane El-Faouzi in the middle line. The experienced player will hope to avoid further disciplinary issues and come closer to the defensive impact he made last year in the second division, where he averaged 3.7 ball recoveries and 2.5 clearances per contest.
Set for two game suspension
Schallenberg has had his suspension upgraded and will miss two games, according to his club.
Analysis: Schallenberg was sent off in Schalke's last match and was set for a one-match ban. However, the incident has been reviewed by the DFB Sports Court, and the ban has now been upgraded, as he will miss two games. This will leave him out to face Bayern Munich on Saturday and against Union Berlin on Sept. 11, returning to face Elversberg on Sept. 20. This will force a change after he earned the start in the last contest, with Eric Junior or Satoshi Tanaka as possible replacements.
