Assist from defense
Catena assisted once to go with zero corners and two chances created in Sunday's 5-2 loss versus Betis. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 96th minute.
Analysis: Catena would come up from the defense to help his team get a goal in the rough loss, earning an assist when finding Raul Garcia in the 56th minute. This is his first goal contribution of the season, coming in seven appearances. He would also add an interception, two tackles and 14 clearances in the defense, a decent day if it weren't for the five goals given up.
Scores winner late
Catena scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) in Sunday's 2-1 win over Sevilla.
Analysis: Catena rose up in the 99th minute to power home the winner in Sunday's 2-1 home victory over Sevilla, meeting Moi Gomez's pinpoint cross and burying a thunderous header past Odysseas Vlachodimos to cap off a dramatic late comeback that sent El Sadar into absolute chaos. He also put in a rock-solid shift at center-back, finishing with 10 clearances and two tackles over a full 90 minutes of control and composure. Catena now sits on three La Liga goals this season, setting a new personal best for the defender.
Eligible after ban
Catena served his league suspension in Tuesday's loss to Athletic and could play again going forward.
Analysis: Catena will look to rejoin Enzo Boyomo in the center-back pairing, relegating Jorge Herrando to the bench in upcoming contests. Catena has enjoyed meaningful playing time, and he's a solid source of defensive output, leading the team with an average of 6.1 clearances per game this season.
