Withdraws with ankle issue
Torres (ankle) has withdrawn from the Spain squad due to persistent discomfort in his left ankle and will return to PSG to continue his recovery, according to the Spanish national team.
Analysis: Torres had been able to train and play despite the ankle issue, logging 55 minutes in Spain's 3-2 win over England before remaining an unused substitute against Croatia. The continued discomfort has now prompted Spain and PSG's medical staffs to prioritize his recovery rather than risk aggravating the problem. Torres had been in strong form before the international break, scoring in three consecutive matches across all competitions, making his condition worth monitoring upon his return to Paris.
Scores in third straight match
Torres scored one goal to go with three shots (two on goal) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-1 win against Marseille.
Analysis: Torres made an immediate impact off the bench, heading home Desire Doue's cross in the 66th minute to break the deadlock. The forward was active during his 31-minute appearance, putting two of his three attempts on target while also creating one chance. Torres has now found the net in three consecutive matches across all competitions, strengthening his case for increased playing time in PSG's attack.
