Analysis: Gomez got a lot of work on set pieces Thursday as he took most of Soceidad's corners, registering seven of their 11. He would also add one interception, two tackles won and four clearances, decent defensively. He sits as a solid option for a defender, as his attacking output proves to be enough to put him ahead of most others, especially after earning six assists last campaign.
Struggles in service
Gomez registered 12 crosses (one accurate) and five corners in Saturday's 2-1 victory versus Espanyol.
Analysis: Gomez clearly is going to get volume but it won't matter if his efficiency numbers remain poor. The defender will need to be more on point to take advantage of a matchup against a Celta Vigo club which has already conceded four times in three matches this season.
