Sidelined for months
Thuram underwent surgery to treat chondropathy of the patella in his right knee in Lyon, Juventus announced.
Analysis: Thuram tried to play through the issue for a few months, but it flared up again in recent weeks, leading to the operation. Director Giovanni Carnevali stated that they expected him to return after Kenan Yildiz (foot), who will miss two to three months. Thuram should be back at some point in early 2027. Manuel Locatelli, Douglas Luiz, Weston McKennie and Pape Sarr will play in the midfield for the foreseeable future.
Set to visit specialist
Thuram won't be available Saturday against Parma and will travel to Lyon early next week to get his knee checked out, Sky Italy reported.
Analysis: Thuram dealt with patellofemoral pain syndrome throughout the summer and, while he was an option for the first game of the season, he didn't feature and isn't fully recovered yet. The upcoming tests will determine whether he'll miss more time and what therapy he requires to make a full recovery.
In doubt for Parma fixture
Thuram "needs to be evaluated because of an ailment," coach Luciano Spalletti stated.
Analysis: Thuram has had a difficult summer because of a lingering injury that required mostly rest to heal and continues to pay the price for it, even though he was technically available for the opener. Juventus would be particularly thin in the midfield, as Weston McKennie (undisclosed) has been ruled out. Teun Koopmeiners, Kerim Alajbegovic and Augusto Owusu will pick up the slack.
Doesn't feature against Frosinone
Thuram (leg) was an unused sub in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Frosinone.
Analysis: Thuram managed to be an option after accelerating his recovery in the last few days, but wasn't fielded. Douglas Luiz looked good in the opener and could hold onto the starting job until his teammate is ready for major minutes.

Analysis: Thuram worked regularly with the rest of the group after a challenging summer and won't miss time in Serie A play despite sitting out the friendlies, but his role will likely be smaller than usual in the early going. Douglas Luiz and Kerim Alajbegovic will pick up the slack until he's fully fit. He notched three goals, three assists and added 50 shots (12 on target), 24 chances created and 60 tackles in 35 Serie A games last season.
Nursing nagging injury
Thuram is training on the side and not taking part in the friendlies due to patellofemoral pain syndrome, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
Analysis: Thuram pushed through the problem late last season, which affected his performances, but he has been managed during the summer, and he's not a lock to participate in the first couple of rounds if he hasn't recovered fully.

Thuram scored one goal to go with one shot (one on target), one tackle (zero won) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Bologna.
Analysis: Thuram came off the bench because he wasn't 100 percent and sealed the deal with a great header, outjumping and outmuscling a pair of defenders in the air. It's his fourth goal in the season. He has taken at least one shot in six straight contests, amassing 12 attempts (four on target), scoring twice and adding six chances created, seven tackles (five won) and six clearances over that span.
