Slowly returning to action
Minamino is taking his return to play cautiously following nine months out with an ACL tear, according to manager Filipe Luis. "He was away from the field for nine months, it's very long, so I want to see with him what his feeling is and what his feelings are. I want him to be as close as possible, because from the moment he is on the field, everyone will forget that he has been absent for so long, so I want to go step by step with him and be sure that he is 100% physically and mentally to resume the competition."
Analysis: Minamino was deemed fit for the clash against PSG a few weeks ago but has yet to see the field, with the attacker slowly entering action again following a torn ACL. This is due to the club taking a cautious approach, wanting to make sure he is deemed fully fit before he is welcomed back to the field. That said, his season debut could come at any moment, as he has been training and getting his levels back to normal.
In squad, fit for PSG clash
Minamino (knee) is in the squad and fit for Friday's clash against PSG, according to the club.
Analysis: Minamino has been working his way back from a torn ACL suffered in December that also cost him the World Cup, having previously been a central figure for Monaco with 21 appearances before the injury struck. His inclusion for this match marks a significant milestone in his recovery, positioning him to begin rebuilding match fitness as new coach Filipe Luis counts on his experience heading into the new season.
