Sidelined with left leg injury
Sylla (leg) is unavailable after suffering an injury to his left leg following a challenge from an opposing player during Schalke's away match against Freiburg, the club announced.
Analysis: Sylla sustained the injury after being kicked by an opponent and will be sidelined for the time being, although Schalke has not disclosed the severity of the issue or provided a recovery timeline. The Mali international's absence leaves the club without an attacking option, with his availability for upcoming fixtures dependent on further medical assessments. Sylla has made four Bundesliga appearances this season, including three starts, recording no goals or assists across 287 minutes.
Impresses with four-goal haul
Sylla scored four goals in Schalke's 5-2 friendly win over Rot-Weiss Oberhausen and has returned in improved physical condition, according to assistant coach Tim Hoogland, per WAZ. "Moussa gives everything in every training session. We're very pleased with his attitude - it's excellent,"
Analysis: Sylla used the friendly to strengthen his case for a prominent attacking role, with his four-goal performance complemented by an improved contribution without the ball. Sylla also opted out of Mali duty following the birth of his daughter, allowing him to remain with Schalke during the international break and continue preparing for the return to competitive action.
