Sidelined with fibula fracture
Openda (leg) will remain sidelined until at least the next international break after medical examinations revealed a hairline fracture of his right fibula sustained during Friday's 2-1 Ligue 1 defeat against Lens, according to the club.
Analysis: Openda suffered the injury during the second half against Lens and required assistance to leave the pitch before departing the stadium on crutches. Subsequent examinations confirmed a hairline fracture of his right fibula, ruling him out for several weeks and potentially longer depending on his recovery. The Belgian forward has scored one goal across four Ligue 1 appearances since joining Lyon on loan from Juventus. Pavel Sulc and Remi Himbert are among the candidates to replace him in attack during his absence.
Leaves stadium on crutches
Openda left the stadium on crutches following Friday's 2-1 defeat at Lens. Coach Paulo Fonseca told Ligue 1+ that he expects an update on the forward's condition on Saturday, according to Foot Mercato.
Analysis: Openda went down around the hour mark and was helped off limping, before being carried to the dressing room, which leaves his availability in doubt until Lyon's medical staff have examined him. The forward has one goal in four Ligue 1 appearances since joining on loan from Juventus.
