Moving to Cagliari

Sugawara has transferred to Cagliari on an initial loan from Southampton.

Analysis: Sugawara heads to Serie A after playing for Werder Bremen last season, dishing out six assists, contributing to six clean sheets and posting 73 crosses (19 accurate), 36 tackles and 71 clearances in 31 appearances. He'll compete primarily with Ze Pedro, who can also play as a center-back, and Adam Obert.

Sugawara has returned to Southampton after spending the 2025/26 season on loan at Werder Bremen.
