Bags brace off bench
Nmecha scored two goals to go with two shots (two on goal) in Saturday's 3-0 win over SC Paderborn.
Analysis: Nmecha subbed onto the pitch in the 65th minute Saturday and proceeded to take over the match. He scored a pair of goals - in the 80th and 89th minute - to secure the win for his side. The goals came on his only two shots and they marked his first two goals of the season. He was active on the defensive end too as he won two tackles, intercepted one pass and made one clearance in his 25 minutes off the bench.
Still building fitness
Nmecha is not yet back to full fitness and is expected to continue having his workload managed, according to coach Niko Kovac, per Ruhr24. "Felix is certainly not yet where he can and will be."
Analysis: Nmecha was withdrawn after 55 minutes in Saturday's 3-2 win over Hoffenheim, continuing a pattern of roughly 45 to 70 minutes across his last three appearances. Manager Niko Kovac explained that his unusual preseason following World Cup participation has left him short of his desired physical level, so regular 90-minute outings are unlikely for now. Despite the managed workload, Nmecha remains an important part of Dortmund's midfield and should continue to receive consistent minutes as his conditioning improves.
