Set to miss at least three matches

Batista Meier (ankle) is expected to miss at least Paderborn's next three matches after suffering an ankle ligament injury during training last Thursday, according to coach Ralf Kettemann, per Westfalen-Blatt. "He can walk without pain, which is a good sign, but it's difficult to predict exactly how long he'll be out with this type of injury,"

Analysis: Batista Meier suffered an ankle ligament injury during Thursday's training session, forcing him to miss the 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen. Although the attacking midfielder is already able to walk without pain, his recovery timeline remains uncertain, with the injury expected to keep him sidelined throughout the upcoming three-match stretch. He is likely to miss Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Hamburger SV, Tuesday's DFB-Pokal encounter against Stuttgart and the following league fixture against Borussia Monchengladbach. His return will depend on how his ankle responds to treatment, with Paderborn set to remain without another attacking option for at least the next week.

Signs with Paderborn

Batista Meier has joined SC Paderborn 07 from Preussen Munster, according to the club. The 25 year old forward made 30 second division appearances last season, contributing six goals and four assists for Munster. "Olli has already gained a lot of experience at a high level in his career," said Sporting director Sebastian Lange.

Analysis: Batista Meier arrives at Paderborn after a productive campaign in Germany's second tier and brings a versatile attacking profile developed through spells at Bayern Munich's academy, SC Heerenveen, Dynamo Dresden, Grasshoppers Zurich, SC Verl and SSV Ulm before landing at Munster last summer. He was capped 28 times for German youth national teams and represented the country at the 2018 U17 European Championship. With Paderborn set to compete in the Bundesliga, Batista Meier projects as a regular contributor to the attack as he looks to build on last season's output.
