Will miss a few months
Hien required surgery to repair a torn tendon near his semimembranosus muscle in his left thigh, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
Analysis: Hien got hurt during the World Cup and quicky returned to Italy, as the injury was immediately serious. He'll need three to four months to make a full recovery and will therefore miss time at the beginning of the season. Atalanta will have to turn to Berat Djimsiti, their other defenders and potential newcomers in relief.

Hien has been ruled out for the rest of the World Cup with a hamstring injury in his left leg, the Swedish Football Association announced, with the Atalanta defender set to return to his club, according to L'Equipe.
Analysis: Hien started all three of Sweden's group stage matches before being forced off in the first half against Japan on Thursday, and his absence is a significant blow ahead of the round of 32 clash against France on Tuesday in New York. Carl Starfelt or Hjalmar Ekdal are the possible option to see more playing time in his spot, with coach Graham Potter offering his and the squad's full support to the defender as he begins his recovery away from the tournament.
